POVERTY REDUCTION

What UNDP is doing with regards to Poverty Reduction in Kenya

Policy review and enhancement are being undertaken with special focus on trade, investment and employment so as to assist the government of Kenya to create an enabling environment for trade and investment expansion. Through expanded trade and enhanced investment (both domestic and foreign direct investment), there will also be employment creation. At the operation level, the Expanded Opportunities Unit undertakes projects that directly involve the impoverished groups where employment is created and regular income generation are possible. These projects are usually carried out with the collaboration of Government of Kenya line ministries such as Ministry of Trade and Ministry of Industrialisation and non-governmental organizations at community level.
