UNDP
is spear heading Early Recovery after Post Election
Crisis in Kenya
As a follow up to the various national, regional
and international mechanisms that were invoked
to support dialogue and achievement of amicable
solutions between opposing parties. The enhanced
security unit, Kenya and Bureau of Crisis Prevention
and Recovery BCPR-New York is working to address
the humanitarian situation created by post election
violence.Both H.E. President Mwai Kibaki as leader
of Government/Party of National Unity (PNU) and
Hon. Raila Odinga as leader of Orange Democratic
Movement (ODM), the opposing parties, agreed that
the mediation process initiated by President Kufuor
would be continued by a Panel of Eminent African
Personalities. The Panel begun working on National
Dialogue and Reconciliation from the 24th January

Mr Aeneas Chuma takes over as UNDP
Resident Representative, July 2008
Mr. Aeneas Chuma is the new UNDP
Resident Representative, UN Resident Coordinator
and Humanitarian Coordinator in Kenya. Mr. Chuma
replaces Ms Elizabeth Lwanga whose term of office
ended on 30 June 2008. A Zimbabwean national,
Mr. Chuma brings to his new assignment in Kenya
a wealth of experience having served in the same
capacity with the United Nations System in Zambia.
Mr Chuma's contributions will be strategic to
realising the Kenya government's new development
Vision 2030, amongst other endeavours in the wake
of the new coalition government. years. Read

Day, 10 July 2008
The launch of the Kisumu Investment
Guide and the provision of this Kisumu Day Forum
to discuss and explore together the kind of opportunities
that exist to change the economic situation of
Kisumu is a very significant step towards achievement
of the MDGs. This is especially so in relation
to establishing and nurturing strategic partnerships
with the private sector whether it is in technological
developments, knowledge sharing and transfer,
transport or in the pharmaceutical and horticultural
areas to mention but a few. .

Growing Inclusive Markets: Creating
Value for All: Strategies for Doing Business with
the Poor,1 July 2008
On 1 July 2008, a new and groundbreaking
report was released by UNDP which offers strategies
and tools for companies to expand beyond traditional
business practices and bring in the worlds
poor as partners in growth and wealth creation.
Part of UNDPs Growing Inclusive Markets
initiative, the report draws on extensive case
studies and demonstrates the effectivenessboth
for human progress and for wealth creationof
more inclusive business models. UNDP Kenya will
