Welcome to Democratic Governance page

The democratic governance component of the UNDP country programme aims to enhance capacities of key national and local level institutions for improved governance. The programme component supports initiatives that improve efficiency, effectiveness, transparency, accountability and equity in the delivery of public services as well as restore public confidence in the Government’s financial management system. In particular, and in congruence with other ongoing support efforts, UNDP seeks to provide assistance through strengthening capacities to improve the planning, budgetary and other economic management processes including coordination, evaluation, and monitoring.

Ms. Sheila Ngatia is the head of the empowerment unit. She joined the country office in May 2006 having worked for the UN office on Drugs and Crime UNODC. Ms. Ngatia - a Kenyan, is also an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.Click here for contacts
