  • Government of Italy to support the IEBC in readiness for the August 2017 General Elections Feb 1, 2017

    The Italian Government has pledged to contribute One Million Euros towards preparation of the 2017 general elections. Through UNDP’s Strengthening Electoral Processes in Kenya project, the Government of Italy has entered into an agreement with UNDP to support the strengthening of IEBC’s institutional capacity, legislative frameworks, citizen participation in elections, and electoral dispute resolution.

  • Statement on United Nations Support to the Electoral Process in Kenya Dec 21, 2016

    UNDP wishes to confirm that the Strengthening Electoral Processes in Kenya (SEPK) (2015-2018) has been developed, and is implemented in line with these principles. The project is aimed at providing technical support to the IEBC and other related government institutions; and encouraging broad-based citizen participation in the electoral process. The Project Document was approved and signed by the Government (led by the National Treasury) and UNDP on 7 July 2015. It was the product of extensive consultation with various stakeholders.

  • Countering Violent Extremism Through Media Nov 21, 2016

    Media editors have pledged to use their trade to shrink violent extremist ideologies. This was the resolution made at a media training on countering violent extremism by the National Counter Terrorism Center (NCTC) in Mombasa, that saw news editors deliberate on how news items can mitigate the ever-increasing presence of violent extremist groups in Kenya and neighboring countries.


    Leaders from The Government of Nepal have expressed confidence that they are better prepared to transition into a federal democratic republican state after high level interactions with Kenyan government officials that saw them learn about the devolution process in Kenya.

  • UNDP Supports the Legislative agenda of County Governments Nov 17, 2016

    County Governments will now be able to develop their own legislation following the unveiling of over fifty County Model Laws; that will act as reference guides for adaptation and customization, to suit the specific realities and unique needs of each county in the exercise of its legislative powers.


    The United Nations has contributed over Ksh. 37.7 Billion shillings towards Humanitarian and Development assistance to Kenya in the past three years (2014-2016). This has been managed under the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) in which Government takes the lead in the development programing while the UN supports the coordination of activities through the Delivering as One mechanism
