Peace Building and Conflict Resolution

Whilst Kenya has made considerable progress and recovers from the chaos of the Post-Election-Violence of 2007-08, violence and insecurity continues to manifest locally in various forms in different parts of the county. Aimed at strengthening the national capacities for conflict prevention and management, the Peace Building and Conflict Prevention Unit (PBCP) of UNDP Kenya provides strategic, technical, operational and financial support to the country. The support is delivered via a national programme and a number of related projects’ outputs as summarized below.

Peace Campaign

The government while recognizing the increased challenges and threats by Kenya’s youthful population established the Ministry of Youth Affairs to provide policy and programmatic interventions for youth affairs

Internationa Peace Training Centre (IPSTC)

In 2009, UNDP-Kenya, through support from the Government of Japan entered into a partnership with International Peace Support Training centre (IPSTC) . The aim of the partnership is to implement a project that seeks to enhance the regional capability in African Union/United Nations Peace Keeping and peace building in the East African region.
